Nota Bene: "brushed chrome" is the color of the plastic, not the material of which the product is made.
Performance-wise, it is a rock star. Highly recommended.
Broke while blending mashed potatoes..., May 1, 2010
This blender worked perfectly for about a year with almost no issues, until it recently broke while I was making mashed potatoes.
Here's what I didn't like:
1. When blending frozen berries into a smoothie in the cup provided, if you push down too hard on the fruit while blending it will actually bend the blades! You're better off with a traditional blender if you are making smoothies.
2. When you make mashed potatoes, they are somewhat sticky and they clog up the blade housing while you're blending, rendering the blender ineffective until you clean the mashed potatoes from around the blades. This is not easy because the blades are so sharp.
3. Since the gear that connects the motor to the blade is made of plastic, it will eventually strip and then the motor will no longer turn the blade (it will just spin by itself). This is especially prone to happen when mixing thick foods like mashed potatoes.
Baby Food, May 1, 2010
I bought this after using my mom's hand blender to mix up some baby food. It is awesome! I had a food mill and can't believe I wasted all that time and effort on it! This hand blender whips right through things making them the right consistency for my baby. With meats it works a lot better if you add some blended veggie and a bit of water.
Horrible Quality - DO NOT BUY, April 29, 2010
All the internal parts are plastic and therefore will wear down and break over time. Mine lasted 3 months. So sad.
